Pitt Business Internship Fair Provides Exclusive Connections for Students
More than 500 Pitt Business students connected with 36 employers at the Spring 2017 Pitt Business Career and Internship Fair. The professional event, which was organized by the Pitt Business Career Development Office, provided students with opportunities to secure job opportunities or lay the groundwork for future employment with top recruiters from Pittsburgh and beyond.
“The Career and Internship Fair was a huge success,” says Audrey J. Murrell, associate dean of Pitt Business and director of the David Berg Center for Ethics and Leadership. “I was pleased to see that the recruiting organizations represented many different industries and hired for all business majors and across academic years.”
DICK’S Sporting Goods, EY, Grant Thornton, KPMG, Northwestern Mutual, PNC, and UPMC were among the recruiting organizations at the fair.
“It was nice having so many quality employers in one place,” says Hafeez Shams, a Pitt Business junior majoring in finance and business information systems. “Before the event, the Career Development Office distributed information about the positions each organization would be recruiting for, which really helped me make the most of my time at the fair.”
Shams was one of many students to take advantage of the Career and Internship Fair. The spring event built upon the success of the fall Career Development Conference by giving students another opportunity to interview with companies.
“Given the importance of internships for career preparation, I am very pleased with the high level of participation of Pitt Business students. Internships are a critical step in our students’ journey from the classroom, to the city, to the world,” Murrell says.
The spring Pitt Business Career and Internship Fair will return in 2018. For more information on the programs and events offered by the Pitt Business Career Development Office throughout the year, visit www.cba.pitt.edu/careers.
