Program Overview

CBA Career Services is proud to once again offer the International Internship Program for summer 2013. The program will include sites in: Beijing, Berlin, Madrid, Milan (NEW), Santiago (NEW), and São Paulo.

This program will provide students with an opportunity to develop knowledge of their host country with faculty on campus at the University of Pittsburgh prior to departing for the host country. In addition, students will take part in survival language training. A program assistant will accompany students to their program site where they will have one week of cultural classes and city orientation before beginning their unpaid business internships.

This six-credit, fourteen week program, includes two weeks on Pitt's campus and twelve weeks abroad. The program debrief and final presentations will be held during the fall semester. This program is designed for rising Juniors and Seniors who would like to gain valuable professional work experience, develop professional skills, and earn academic credit in a foreign setting.

CBA Career Services will be partnering with Intrax for logistical support for all of our 2013 sites.

For more information on the sites and application visit abroad.pitt.edu/iip.

Academic Overview

Students will earn six credits after the successful completion of the International Internship Program. Three of the credits will be earned through the CBA Internship for Credit Program. The additional three credits will be earned through the "Doing Business In..." course, an elective in the CPIB. This program also satisfies the CBA foreign culture requirement.

Internship placement

Based on your application, resume, interest survey, and language proficiency you will be placed in an internship commensurate with your skill level, year in school, and functional desire. What does this mean? For example, a sophomore undecided student going to Madrid that speaks no Spanish will have a different internship than a junior finance major going to Madrid who is at level three of Spanish. Regardless of all levels, students will gain valuable professional experience. In some cases, all interns may be at a single employer location with varying work assignments.
